Help add your bank

Every bank lays out its statements a little differently. When Unlinked can't read one, it doesn't guess. It tells you, and offers a way to help.

Send the layout, never the statement

When an import fails, tap Send layout to Unlinked. The app draws a new copy of the statement in which every letter becomes X and every digit becomes 9. Only amounts, dates, month names and the statement's own headings like “Previous balance” are kept, because those are what the layout is made of. Names, addresses, account numbers and merchants are all masked.

A made-up example of what changes and what stays:

Name on the statement
JANE SAMPLE → XXXX XXXXXX
Account number
1234 5678 9012 4821 → 9999 9999 9999 9999
A purchase
Sep 14 MAPLE COFFEE TORONTO 4.75 → Sep 14 XXXXX XXXXXX XXXXXXX 4.75
A heading
Previous balance 1,204.18 → Previous balance 1,204.18

You see every page of that copy before anything happens. It goes out only if you send it, by email, from your own phone.

Unlinked never sends your statement. If an import fails, you can choose to send us its layout — a copy in which every name and number is masked — and you see exactly what leaves your phone before it does.

Please don't email us a statement

Not even a redacted one. The masked layout is all we need, and it's safer. If a statement arrives by mistake, we delete it without opening the attachments and reply with these steps.

Before launch

Unlinked isn't out yet. For now, the best way to help is to tell us which banks and cards you use when you join the waitlist.
